Tom's Challenge- the riddler 3
Well this one is simple, making up for lost time. Due to the election and anniversaries and life in general, my challenge has been a bit slow to come about.
So here it is, nice and simple:
He mocked cotton in silence,
When lead was mightier than swords or pens.
Who are the three people this riddle is referring to?

I think you underestimate the simplicity of some of your readers. Email the answer, right?

Doug, email me the answer while you're at it, will ya? (apparently my brain is officially fried.) oh fine... lemme think about this for a minute or two...or three... or four...

Tom -- nice of you not to tell me the conest was up. No. I had to read about it at Doug's.
Silly Quilly,
The only place I announced it was at Doug's because everybody seemed to be there.
I chose the most popular site that we all seem to frequent ikn order word out fast.
You can still get second place if you are fast. T
blank -- and you've left me nothing to google! How dare you!
Quilly-you are wrong! C'mon! Go...you can do it.
Pft --
Was that better? How many times can I flunk and still stay in the class, teach?
Tom, I'm not going to be playing today - but I'll be back to see your answer/background on the answer. I really enjoy the way you flesh out your response...I'm getting a little education here, of little known facts! (They'll look good on my resume!)
Tom, I do want to play - I do! But I'm coming up empty! Doug, don't be such a showoff!
